BURGERS IN SÜDVORSTADT
Between the university, Karli and Connewitz there are plenty of places to eat. We are one of them: smash burgers at Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 72.
Karli is no ordinary street
Karl-Liebknecht-Straße runs from Südplatz down to Connewitz and is the backbone of Südvorstadt. Bars, Spätis (Leipzig's late-night corner shops), clubs, shops and kitchens from all over the world sit side by side, the tram runs right through the middle, and on warm evenings half of Leipzig is out on the pavement.
That is where you will find us, at number 72. Eating a burger in Südvorstadt usually means you are already out and about and do not want to cross the whole city first.
When people end up here
At lunchtime between two appointments, because a smash burger is ready in a few minutes. In the afternoon after lectures, because the university buildings in the city centre and on Augustusplatz are only a few tram stops away.
And in the evening, when Karli fills up. We are open late; the exact times are on the location page. On Fridays we close for a while in between, so it is worth checking the opening hours before you set off.
Eat in or get it delivered
Best of all, come by: order in the restaurant and get your burger fresh off the griddle, with no delivery fee.
If you would rather stay in, you can order through Wolt. Your burger then arrives in a delivery box, which is fine for the bun but not for the crust. Once you have tasted the difference between freshly smashed and delivered, you will probably come by.
Making it a meal pays off
You can make any burger a meal: burger, fries and a soft drink of your choice for €4.50 extra. That takes the Cheeseburger from €6.50 to €11.00, and the Smack That Burger from €9.90 to €14.40.
On their own, French Fries cost €4.00 and a soft drink €3.00. So the meal upgrade pays off as soon as you wanted both anyway.
What is on the menu
Eight burgers, three kinds of fries, dips, drinks and a few extras. The Cheeseburger is the classic, the Smack That Burger is our house burger with flipped bun, homemade sauce and caramelised onions, and the Chilli Cheese Burger is the spicy one.
Vegetarians can go for the Veggie Burger at €7.50, and the Vegan Burger is fully plant-based for the same price. All burgers are prepared according to halal standards. The menu is short enough that you will not spend ten minutes reading it, and long enough that everyone in your group finds something.
Getting here: tram, bike or on foot
By tram, you get off right on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße and walk the last few metres. By bike, it is a few minutes from the city centre, Connewitz or Clara-Zetkin-Park. On foot, Karli is the street everyone in Südvorstadt walks along anyway.
The exact address, directions and opening hours are on the Karli location page.
